Having built up many years editions of a football magazine our customer wanted to find a method of stopping them getting damaged.
Our staff are specialist in this kind of binding having bound titles ranging from The Racing Post to the Model Railway Journal.
After going through a number of options, it was decided that the most economic, yet still very classy way of binding the magazines was to remove the stitches, hand sew the magazines together to produce a full volume, add a endpaper front and back and line the spine with a calico to strengthen the spine. Finally giving the bookblocks slight skim to tidy the edges.
The case to go round the magazines then needed to be produced. To keep within budget a mid range, but tough wearing Arbelave was chosen. The option of raised bands or a rounded back was discussed, but it was decided that the spine of the case would have the title of the magazine and the dates foiled in to the spine using one of the many typefaces we hold in stock.
Once completed the various years of magazines would look stunning once placed on a bookshelf.
